This course is meant for owners and dogs that haven’t taken any other of our courses. Also people that have taken courses at other dog schools or clubs can participate in the basic course.
In this course you will learn to work with the clicker. The dog will learn some basic exercises, like walking without pulling the leash and paying attention to you as his owner.
We will also look at potentially annoying behaviour, like jumping up against people, ‘hunting’ cyclists or excessive barking.
In every practical lesson we will work on stress-reducing techniques and self-control. Since in this class there are usually dogs of various ages and with different backgrounds, we make a personal attention plan in the first lesson. These attention plans will be worked out in the following lessons.
In the 4 theoretical lessons the following subjects will emerge:
- backgrounds of the clicker training
- the way dogs learn
- preventing problem behaviour
- recognising behaviour
- recognising stress
This course is concluded with a theoretical examination.
The practical lessons of the basic course can also be taken as private lessons.
